How to use the crosshair tool on MT4

The crosshair tool in MetaTrader 4 (MT4) allows you to measure distances and obtain precise information on price and time levels on the chart. Here's how to use the crosshair tool:

  1. Activate the Crosshair Tool: In MT4, locate the toolbar at the top of the platform. Look for the icon that resembles a crosshair, typically found next to the zoom icons. Click on the crosshair icon to activate the tool.

  2. Use the Crosshair Tool: Once activated, move the mouse cursor to the desired location on the chart. As you move the cursor, the crosshair tool will display a vertical and horizontal line intersecting at the cursor position. This indicates the specific price and time levels of that point on the chart.

  3. Measure Distances: To measure distances between two points on the chart, click and hold the left mouse button at the starting point, then drag the cursor to the desired endpoint. As you drag the cursor, the crosshair tool will display a measurement line, indicating the distance in pips or points, as well as the time duration between the two points.

  4. Obtain Precise Information: By hovering the cursor over a specific bar or candlestick on the chart, the crosshair tool will display detailed information about that particular price bar, including the open, high, low, close prices, as well as the date and time of the bar.

  5. Toggle Additional Information: By right-clicking anywhere on the chart with the crosshair tool active, a context menu will appear. This menu allows you to toggle additional information that the crosshair tool displays, such as the pip distance, the date and time, or the price level of the cursor position.

  6. Deactivate the Crosshair Tool: To deactivate the crosshair tool, click on the crosshair icon again in the toolbar, or press the "Esc" key on your keyboard.

The crosshair tool in MT4 is a useful feature for precise analysis and measurement on the chart. It helps traders identify specific price levels, measure distances, and obtain detailed information about individual price bars. By mastering the crosshair tool, you can enhance your technical analysis and make more informed trading decisions.
